Community Chaplaincy Specialist

The Community Chaplaincy Specialist is a key member of the team providing holistic care and support to residents and staff within a housing context. This role is responsible for delivering a number of key objectives, including but not limited to:
- Fostering a Jesus-Centred spirituality;
- Developing healthy communities through implementing sound community development practices;
- Nurturing a positive environment through facilitating a holistic pastoral care program;
- Collaborating with volunteers to enhance care services.
Chaplains are members of the Church and Community Engagement team of Churches of Christ, supporting activities aligned with the strategic direction of the organisation and consistent with its mission and values.
This part-time position (4 days a week) provides chaplaincy services to multiple sites within the Gold Coast region.
About YouYou are an active Christian with demonstrated competence in holistic pastoral care. As a team player with a teachable spirit, you can effectively communicate with others in various contexts. You are comfortable working alongside people from diverse faiths, cultures, and lifestyle choices, as well as educational backgrounds. You are a caring and positive role model to others, possessing proven leadership and management skills with the capacity to deliver outcomes, inspire and motivate teams, and work across organisational boundaries to achieve shared goals.
Required Skills and QualificationsYour qualifications and experience for this role should include:
- Ability to be endorsed as a Ministering Person with Churches of Christ;
- Certificate IV in Pastoral Care, Chaplaincy, Christian Ministry or relevant equivalent qualification;
- Current Driver's license and a willingness to travel periodically;
- Demonstrated experience in providing pastoral care, chaplaincy services, or community development at an advanced level;
- Demonstrated ability to function as a servant leader who values all people, including the marginalised;
- Demonstrated ability to model a missional lifestyle and communicate Christian beliefs and convictions within the Australian context.
We offer a competitive salary package of around $70,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on your experience. The remuneration package also includes salary-packaging benefits that can increase your take-home pay, along with five weeks of annual leave and the ability to purchase more (for eligible employees).
