About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at VenuesWest. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing chemicals, equipment and materials, designing and constructing teaching aids, and collecting and caring for living organisms for study purposes.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a science laboratory, including knowledge of laboratory techniques and relevant safety and legislative requirements. They will also possess good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, as well as organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare chemicals, equipment and materials for use in the laboratory
  • Design and construct teaching aids to support curriculum requirements
  • Collect and care for living organisms for study purposes
  • Manage laboratory stocks, including ordering of supplies and equipment, liaison with suppliers, and completion of annual stock-takes
  • Assist with coordinating the science budget, including monitoring expenditure, providing advice as required, and managing petty cash and business card accounts
  • Organise preparation areas and classroom laboratories and undertake general housekeeping of chemicals, equipment (including repairs and maintenance) and other resources
