The Deputy Secretary role is a key leadership position within NSW Treasury, responsible for providing executive leadership and strategic direction to deliver the Government's policy and fiscal management initiatives.

This position plays a critical role in leading complex commercial arrangements and policy, managing the State's shareholding in its commercial businesses, and overseeing whole-of-government procurement policies and activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Informing Government policy and fiscal management initiatives through strategic public policy skills
  • Providing executive leadership and strategic direction to deliver NSW Treasury's vision and goals
  • Leading a diverse team of professionals in the Commercial and Procurement Group (C&P)
  • Managing major asset transactions, infrastructure, and structured finance
  • Oversight of the State's banking and financial services arrangements

  • Providing authoritative advice and recommendations as a trusted expert advisor with strong understanding of public service principles
  • Providing strategic leadership as a seasoned leader with track record of achievement and delivery
  • Participating as a collaborator with ability to partner with colleagues, agencies, and stakeholders
  • Showing strong commercial and financial acumen with extensive knowledge and understanding of financial and risk management frameworks
