Disability Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Disability Support Specialist to join our team.

The Role:

You will be working under the direction of a Neighbourhood Team Leader, assisting and supporting clients to achieve their goals through a person-centred approach of 'choice and control'. Your day-to-day duties may include:

  • Assisting clients with life-skills such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, budgeting etc.
  • Transporting clients to appointments and/or shopping for and/or with client.
  • Assisting clients in building client self-image and self-confidence.
  • Assisting clients in social and community participation.
  • Promoting independence and well-being.
  • Assisting clients with personal care and manual handling; including showering and bowel care.
  • Medical administration (if qualified).
  • Administration, e.g. daily journal reporting.
  • Working within the NDIS guidelines and escalate relevant information to Team Leaders.

Requirements:

We are looking for someone with:

  • An enthusiastic outlook and a friendly personality.
  • A compassionate and empathetic demeanour.
  • Strong listening and oral communication skills and patience.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to maintain clear professional boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 1 year experience in Disability Support Work.

Licence/Certification:

- NDIS Worker Orientation Module.

- NDIS Worker Screening Check.

- Australian Driver's Licence.

- Working with Children Check.
