Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist

Head Medical is seeking a skilled Child and Adolescent Mental Health Psychiatrist to join our team in Mackay, Queensland.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a multidisciplinary team context and a minimum of 6 months in a formal training post in Child and Adolescent psychiatry.
About the LocationMackay is a beautiful region on the central coast of Queensland, offering a unique blend of subtropical rainforests, golden sand beaches, and coastal living.
The successful applicant will be part of a well-resourced health service, with access to regular daily flights to Brisbane and Sydney.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional psychiatric interventions, direct clinical care, and treatment to clients and their families with a mental illness in a regional and rural setting.
- Perform psychiatric and somatic assessments, including comprehensive risk assessments, and plan interventions accordingly.
- Liaise with family and professionals involved in patients' care and coordinate other somatic treatments as required.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call roster and work towards ECT accreditation.
- Provide professional support, education, and training to colleagues, students, and other service providers to meet mental health needs.
The Mackay Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs Service comprises an acute mental health inpatient facility with 24 beds and a Step-Up Step-Down Unit with 10 beds.
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service offers a range of services, including an Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Service, which forms part of an integrated continuum of care for adolescents requiring mental health treatment.
