Community Connections Specialist Role Overview

The Salvation Army is seeking a Community Connections Specialist to provide specialist knowledge and expertise in coordinating internal services to support Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) workers. This role contributes to the Community Connections Program, ensuring innovative and client-centred service delivery.

About the Position
  • This fixed-term full-time position will contribute to the success of the Community Connections Program.
  • You will be based anywhere in Australia, with salary and conditions in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 6.

In this role, you will develop and implement strategies to integrate PALM workers into the community through various Salvation Army services.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Develop materials to grow TSA understanding of the PALM scheme and how they can connect with workers.
  • Liaise with National and Regional Coordinators to identify worker needs and where relevant TSA services could meet those needs.
  • Facilitate access to Salvation Army programs such as emergency relief, housing support, and health services tailored to meet the needs of PALM workers.
  • Create a supportive network by connecting PALM workers with relevant internal services and resources.
  • Coordinate outreach programs that provide PALM workers with opportunities for social interaction, cultural exchange, and community involvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the support provided, making adjustments as necessary to improve service delivery and worker satisfaction.
  • Ensure PALM workers are well-supported by the Salvation Army's internal services, contributing to their well-being and successful integration into the community.
Your Qualifications and Experience
  • A Victoria Working with Children Check is required.
  • Degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in social and community services program delivery.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the Christian faith and mission and values of The Salvation Army.
