About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Visual Effects Assistant Editor to join our team at Framestore. As a key member of our editorial team, you will be responsible for providing support to our VFX editors, ensuring that reviews run smoothly and that artists have the correct reference and cut details.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the VFX editor in processing turnover and maintaining editorial databases
  • Import and check new versions of VFX shots into Avid
  • Provide reference to artists, including witness cameras, line up, retime, and resize reference
  • Manage Avid media and storage
  • Maintain editorial information in databases
  • Have a strong understanding of editorial tools
  • Make and request selects for additional media requests, such as element shoots
  • Liaise with Framestore Editorial at other offices
  • Liaise with cutting rooms when appropriate
  • Prepare for and drive dailies sessions and client meetings and deliveries
  • Work closely with internal production, artists, and other support departments to provide advice, reference, information, and files when needed
  • Cut showreels and project reels
  • Ensure the review suites are kept at a high standard
  • Respect confidentiality and media security policies
Requirements
  • Solid experience and demonstrable proficiency using editing software, such as Avid
  • An understanding of film and digital formats, files, frame rates, resolutions, colorspace, and codecs
  • Experience using spreadsheets and databases and editing and presentation software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and self-motivated, with a keen desire to learn new skills and applications
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A strong multi-tasker
  • Diligent and meticulous
  • A team player
  • Remain calm and focused under pressure
  • Possess a love of film and VFX
Desirable Skills
  • Working knowledge of Framestore editorial and production databases and software, such as Shotgun, Avid, RV, Cinesync, Photoshop, Linux, VLC, Keynote, and Baselight
  • An understanding and interest in visual effects
