Position Overview:

The successful candidate will engage in teaching and administrative responsibilities within the realm of Maritime Operations and Coastal Seafaring, Engineering, Safety, and Deck. Responsibilities include delivering tutorials, theoretical lessons, and practical training sessions, along with the associated assessment tasks. The teaching scope will encompass AQF levels 1 to 5, with opportunities for undergraduate degree instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver lectures, tutorials, practical classes, workshops, and field excursions in both traditional and online settings.
  • Contribute to the scholarly outputs of the Centre for Seafaring and Maritime Operations.
  • Foster productive relationships within the university and with external stakeholders in the maritime and educational sectors.
  • Support the university in achieving its strategic goals and operational responsibilities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Possession of an Australian-issued Certificate of Competency (CoC) for Master less than 24m near coastal, or a relevant/higher STCW CoC, complemented by relevant industry experience.
  • Australian-issued CoC Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 near coastal or higher, with relevant seagoing experience.
  • Proven ability to design and implement training programs using innovative delivery and assessment methods.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, alongside strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience in vocational training and assessment, ideally holding a current TAE40116, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated capability to work effectively within a team setting.

Compensation:

This position is classified at Academic Level A, offering a total remuneration package that includes a competitive base salary along with superannuation benefits.
