Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Roads and Drainage Maintenance Officer to join our team at Nillumbik Shire Council. As a key member of our Roads, Drains, and Cleansing team, you will play a vital role in delivering essential services to the community and ensuring the proper maintenance of our road and drainage infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and dispose of litter, dumped rubbish, and deceased animals from public roads, reserves, and other Council properties.
  • Enhance our community by improving and maintaining our civil infrastructure network throughout the Shire, following established maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with our dedicated Cleansing team and other Operations Centre crews to ensure our projects are executed in a seamless and coordinated manner.
  • Safely operate plant and equipment to keep our civil infrastructure in top shape, adhering to Shire work practices and regulations.
  • Implement effective traffic management while ensuring compliance with industry legislation and requirements in work areas.
Requirements
  • Trade certificate or equivalent, completion of TAFE accredited/industry based training course and/or demonstrated previous experience in municipal roadside, road and drainage maintenance.
  • Current Victorian driver licence with either medium or heavy rigid endorsement.
  • Accreditation in Traffic Control.
  • Knowledge and experience in road and drainage maintenance techniques, plant and equipment.
  • Demonstrated previous experience and accreditation in Traffic Control / Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in the maintenance of sealed and unsealed road surface and footpath networks.
