Counselling Practitioner

Centacare is seeking a skilled Counselling Practitioner to join our team in Southport. As a Counselling Practitioner, you will provide counselling services to children, couples, adults, and families, assisting them to manage challenges and improve relationships. You will also facilitate group education sessions for a diverse range of clients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct client intake, including initial and ongoing risk assessment, safety planning, and crisis counselling when required.
- Provide brief solution-focused counselling sessions for children, couples, adults, and families.
- Facilitate psycho-educational or therapeutic group sessions.
- Manage client referrals and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive client outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science from a recognised institution.
- Demonstrated experience in assisting families affected by domestic and family violence.
- Well-developed understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act, and Family Law Act.
- Demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework for domestic and family violence and its nexus with child safety, family law, and mental health.
- Experience in intake, risk assessment, case management, and referral pathways, crisis intervention, DVO assistance, and safety planning.
- Well-developed written work, including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry, and computer literacy skills.
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advocate for clients' needs with other statutory organisations and departments.
- High degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to support and work with diverse families with complex needs.
- Availability for some after-hours work.
- Current Blue Card or eligibility to apply.
- Current driver's licence.
- Current Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check or successful completion of one.
- Working rights in Australia.
