Senior Environmental Specialist

About the Role
MEC Mining is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Consultant to join our expanding Brisbane-based team. As a suitably qualified and experienced environmental professional, you will be working as part of our environmental team. Reporting to the Manager of Environment, you will be responsible for;
- Leading Technical Studies: Scope and manage multiple technical studies, including environmental impact assessments and other technical reports, for clients across various industries.
- Delivering High-Quality Reports: Prepare, compile, and edit environmental technical studies, ensuring timely delivery and exceptional quality.
- Closing and Rehabilitation Planning: Coordinate and prepare mine rehabilitation and closure planning documents, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Research and Compliance: Research and interpret legislative requirements and processes, staying up-to-date with changes in environmental legislation.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work within multidisciplinary teams to meet specified project goals, administering contracts and scopes of work with other consultants and contractors.
- Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with key project contacts, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements and Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold at least 5-6 years of experience in an environmental field, with exposure to the mining industry. A strong understanding of Commonwealth, Queensland, and Northern Territory environmental legislation and approvals processes is essential.
Key Skills
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a high level of computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office. A proven track record of self-managing projects and delivering high-quality results is required.
