Protecting Public Health and the Environment

This role plays a key part in managing biosecurity risks, controlling designated pests and ensuring best practice pest management to keep our community safe and sustainable.

Responsibilities:
  1. Surveying Redland City to identify biosecurity and public health risks associated with designated pests, mosquito breeding, vermin harbourage, and biosecurity matters including fire ants.
  2. Using, transporting, storing, and disposing of pesticides and pest control products safely and legally.
  3. Providing administrative support to the team, including handling telephone enquiries and generalist administrative duties.
  4. Contributing to team objectives such as continual improvement and on-the-job training for other team members.
Requirements:
  1. A professional with strong knowledge of pest management, chemical handling and safety, and best practice control measures for pests like mosquitoes, vermin, and fire ants.
  2. Experience in interpreting and applying relevant legislation is essential, along with the ability to conduct pest surveillance, habitat modification, and biosecurity control measures.
