The 24/7 OEMS is a leading organization dedicated to enhancing healthcare access in Canada. We are excited to support the integration of Physician Assistants (PAs) into the Emergency Department, providing critical care to the community.
Location:
The Saanich Peninsula Hospital (SPH) is conveniently located just a short drive from a major urban center. Currently, the emergency department operates with limited hours, with plans to expand to full-time service in the near future. The facility is equipped with essential diagnostic tools including CT, x-ray, and ultrasound, along with laboratory services available during most operational hours.
Community Highlights:
Saanich is recognized for its pleasant climate and outdoor recreational opportunities, including cycling, hiking, and water sports. The region also provides easy access to renowned destinations for winter sports and cultural experiences.
Position Summary:
The Physician Assistant will perform clinical responsibilities in alignment with the standards set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC). Working under the supervision of a designated Physician Supervisor, the PA will contribute to the delivery of high-quality care in a collaborative team environment, engaging with various healthcare professionals.
Work Schedule:
- 5 days per week
- 37.5 hours per week
- Shifts may include days, evenings, and potential night shifts in the future

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient care under the guidance of an Emergency Department Physician, adjusting oversight based on patient needs.
- Engage with patients and their families in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, adhering to reporting standards as required.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience in an emergency department setting.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant in accordance with CPSBC regulations.
- Must fulfill the CPSBC's English language proficiency criteria.
- Eligibility to work in British Columbia is required.
Mandatory Certifications:
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Independent Practitioner Status for FAST Point of Care Ultrasound.
- Completion of Airway Interventions & Management in Emergencies (AIME) Course within the last four years.
- Completion of CASTED Course.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Proficient in computer and written communication.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Physical capability to perform job duties, including potential evening and overnight shifts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function under supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate documentation as per CPSBC and organizational standards.
