About the Role

V/Line is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious individual to join their Melbourne Gang team as a Rail Track Labourer Operator. This is a full-time permanent position that involves supporting the maintenance team with various tasks, including laying, aligning, repairing, and maintaining railway tracks on passenger and freight lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy plant and equipment, including trucks and excavators, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform manual labouring tasks, such as cleaning and maintaining plant equipment and worksites.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the safe operation of plant and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to achieve project goals and deadlines.
  • Adhere to V/Line's safety policies and procedures at all times.
About You

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual who is comfortable operating heavy plant and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong safety record, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements
  • Valid Victorian Heavy Combination Licence.
  • Valid Victorian Heavy Rigid Licence (desirable).
  • Year 10 or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in rail, civil, construction, or recycling environments (advantageous).
  • Excellent practical experience operating an excavator with a valid ticket.
  • Demonstrated alignment to V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
