Key Responsibilities- Provide executive-level advice on animal ethics and biosafety policy and legislation
- Implement University-wide policy changes on relevant animal ethics, biosafety, and biosecurity policy and guidelines
- Manage and lead the Animal Ethics and Biosafety Advisor/s to support the administration of the Animal Ethics Committee and the Institutional Biosafety Committees
- Responsibility for efficient and effective administration of the Animal Ethics and Institutional Biosafety Committees
- Responsibility for oversight of governance, compliance, and policy advice in Animal Ethics, Biosafety, and Biosecurity
- Develop and maintain accessible documentation on animal ethics and biosafety matters for researchers
- Provide training to researchers in animal ethics and biosafety
- Postgraduate degree with at least 5 years animal, gene technology, and/or biomedical research experience
- Knowledge of or demonstrated capacity to understand and interpret the legislation, regulations, and standards that impact research involving animals and biological agents
- Experience with regulatory compliance management, including conducting inspections and audits and annual compliance reporting
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills with experience in managing and leading staff to promote a cohesive and effective team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to manage consultative relationships with key research stakeholders
