Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Accounting Manager to lead and manage a team of up to six staff. This critical role will provide expert financial advice and support to senior leadership, ensuring the financial health and operational capability of the organization.

About the Role:
  • Lead the consolidation of financial data into the parent organization's annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage systems and processes to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data, general ledger records, and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to the implementation of effective financial management reporting systems, internal controls, and assurance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislation, and government requirements.
  • Provide expert financial advice to executive management and finance staff on accounting standards, relevant policies, and taxation issues.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of the organization's Financial Management Practice Manual and financial delegation instruments.
  • Lead liaison and consultation with relevant audit authorities regarding financial management and financial reporting issues. Manage the review and actioning of audit findings.
  • Manage the relationship with shared services providers for the provision of transactional financial services and systems.
  • Manage the delivery of asset accounting services to ensure the timely, accurate, and reliable recording and reporting of the organization's asset base.
  • Provide leadership to the team, promote business improvement initiatives, and foster a supportive and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Financial Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading and managing a team of financial professionals, providing expert financial advice and support to senior leadership, and ensuring the financial health and operational capability of the organization.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience leading a finance team in a complex organization
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, public sector financial management standards, and relevant legislation
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, or business
  • Membership or eligibility for membership to a professional accounting body (e.g., CPA Australia, CA ANZ)
