Job Summary

This role is critical to protecting the open-source ecosystem and driving innovation. We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead a team of engineers responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of our flagship Linux distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers to address emerging threats and develop robust security measures
  • Provide technical guidance on vulnerability remediation and drive the development of new security engineering projects
  • Work with upstream open source projects on vulnerability lifecycle handling and represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
  • Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback to team members
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes and plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects
  • Be an active part of the security engineering leadership team, collaborating with other leaders

Requirements:

  • A strong academic record from high school and university
  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Drive, initiative, and a track record of going above expectations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A love of developing and growing people and a proven track record of doing so
  • Organised and able to ensure timely delivery of high-quality results
  • A professional manner when interacting with colleagues, partners, and community
  • Solid experience in software development, including expertise in support and maintenance
  • Mastery of a programming language (e.g., Go, Java, C, Python)
  • Knowledgeable about software and application security
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • A demonstrated drive for continuous learning
  • The ability to build trust, relationships, and confidence
  • Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments
  • Ability to travel occasionally for company events
