Housekeeping and Laundry Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Housekeeper and Laundry Assistant to join our team.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality cleaning and laundry services, maintaining the highest possible standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the residence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide timely and efficient cleaning service that is responsive to the needs of residents and facility operations.
  2. Ensure the cleaning service is conducted in a way that is safe for staff and residents and complies with Workplace Health & Safety legislation.
  3. Ensure residents' clothes and personal items are laundered using strict control measures that monitor disinfection standards as well as presentation.
  4. Ensure residents' personal clothing and other items are not damaged during the laundering process and their belongings are presentable and clean on return.
  5. Follow correct procedures to prevent loss of residents' clothing and personal items.
  6. Complete labelling of unmarked residents' clothing items in a timely manner and return all items submitted for labelling to residents' rooms.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a cleaner or laundry attendant.
  • Demonstrated organisation and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of cleaning products and the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals, and use of cleaning equipment.
  • Good communication skills, including a caring and compassionate manner when interacting with customers and their representatives.
  • Values driven and willing to commit to and demonstrate the organisation's values.
  • A commitment to the principles of Workplace Health & Safety and ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.
  • Ability to build and foster strong working relationships and work well as part of a team.
