About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Kitchen Staff Member. As part of our dynamic kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, preparing food and assisting with general pantry duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning duties within the kitchen, food preparation areas and scullery.
  • General pantry duties and maintaining cleanliness of pantry, fridges and freezers.
  • Assisting in the preparation of food as directed by the Executive Chef or supervisory team.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and rotation of stock in pantry, fridge and freezers.
  • Assisting with the receiving and storing of stock.
  • Ensuring all kitchens are kept clean and tidy according to current Health & Hygiene regulations.
  • Ensuring each outlet is supplied with sanitized clean and dry operational equipment.
  • To count, sort and prepare operating equipment as required.
  • Ensuring all equipment, crockery, cutlery & glassware is hygienically and safely stored.
  • Ensuring correct handling of chemicals and equipment as per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Following the regular cleaning rosters and standard procedures for deep cleaning of floors, walls, coolers, ovens & operating equipment.
  • To contribute to cost control through energy conservation and the careful use of water, cleaning materials and other appliances.
  • Ensuring garbage is collected and disposed of correctly from all kitchen areas each shift. Utilizing safe and hygienic methods for the removal of dry and wet waste.
  • Completing all duties, and ensuring a concise hand over.

Requirements:

  • Chemical handling experience & understanding of safe work practices preferred.
  • Service oriented with an eye for detail.
  • Multicultural awareness and able to work with people from diverse cultures.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrated initiative in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated and energetic.
  • Strong focus and passion for hotel operations.
  • Confident and articulate communication, negotiation, relationship and networking skills.
  • Time management skills with the ability to multitask.
