About the Role

  • As an Empowering Independence Specialist, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities to live independently and engage meaningfully in their communities. Your support will be tailored to each participant's unique needs, goals and aspirations – helping them build confidence, develop life skills and achieve greater independence.

Your Key Responsibilities

">
  • Supporting participants in their unique journey by promoting independence and meaningful engagement in their communities.
  • Providing assistance across various settings, including self-care activities, community participation, respite care and Supported Independent Living (SIL).
  • Encouraging personal growth, employment and skill development to enhance quality of life.
  • Building strong, respectful relationships based on trust and dignity.
  • Collaborating with families, carers and professionals to deliver holistic, person-centred support.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships with participants and their families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Awareness of cultural protocols when working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and CALD communities.
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Experience with High-Intensity Support (preferred) and Complex Behaviour Support Management (preferred).
