About the Role

We are seeking a Support Worker to join our team at Life Without Barriers, providing in-home and community support to individuals in the Gold Coast South area.

The ideal candidate will be located in the suburbs of Burleigh Heads, Surfers Paradise, and Palm Beach, and will be required to travel to clients' homes to provide support.

One of the clients you will be supporting is an older male of Ethiopian background, who requires assistance with domestic tasks, including cooking.

This is a casual position, offering flexible working hours tailored to your lifestyle, with a focus on providing support during the day, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients to improve their independence, including:
  • Domestic assistance, such as light cleaning and housework
  • Assistance with meal preparation
  • Skill development
  • Personal care
  • Community Connections supports, including:
  • Social support and linking
  • Shopping assistance
  • Assisting clients to improve their independence, according to their identified needs and goals
  • Establishing a rapport and collaborating effectively with clients and their family
Requirements
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or similar)
  • Australian Driver's Licence and ownership of a registered vehicle
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Blue Card
  • Excellent organisational skills, hygiene practices, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
