Job Title:

Legal Placement Assistant

About the Role:

We are seeking students in their fourth year or above and those seeking to complete their Practical Legal Training component as volunteers at our office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing assistance with legal advice and administration, including database entry
  • Supporting casework, which can include drafting and filing disability discrimination complaints, legal research, file management, general assistance, preparation and observation of conciliations, mediations and/or hearings
  • Research and involvement in law reform submissions and community legal education

Requirements:

  • A strong interest or experience in social justice and human rights issues; experience in other community legal centres will be highly regarded
  • Students in their fourth year or above, or those seeking to complete Practical Legal Training component as volunteers

Commitment:

  • At least 2 days per week for a minimum of 6 months
  • This is a face-to-face role
