Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role as a Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel? We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team in Newcastle or Melbourne, where you will play a key role in delivering projects and providing practical legal guidance to clients across a range of construction-focused matters.

Job Description

We are a dynamic organization that is transforming the way projects are delivered. Our Projects delivery team is looking for someone with amazing skills, relevant knowledge, and a burning belief that there is always a better way. As a Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel, you will work collaboratively with clients, managing multiple projects simultaneously and contributing to the development of processes and systems to deliver more and better results.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and related agreements
  • Provide clear, practical legal advice to clients, including contractors, subcontractors, and principals
  • Manage legal risk across procurement, supply chains, and contract frameworks
  • Contribute to the development of processes and systems to improve delivery
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience as a lawyer, preferably in-house or private practice
  • Experience in construction law, project advisory, or dispute resolution, or strong commercial law experience with a passion for construction and projects
  • Strong expertise in drafting and negotiating contracts, ideally including construction contracts
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex factual and contractual situations
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with experience engaging with senior executives, clients, and industry experts
