Family Violence Specialist

This role is designed to support the prevention and response to family violence. The Family Violence Specialist will work with individuals who are at risk of perpetrating family violence, providing them with the tools and resources needed to change their behavior.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of family violence dynamics and the ability to develop and implement effective interventions. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing them to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.

  • Support the management of risk and safety to Affected Family Members (Victim Survivors).
  • Utilise the MARAM framework and share risk-relevant information under the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme.
  • Making referrals to behaviour change interventions, mental health, and alcohol and drug treatments when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualised intervention plans for Respondents in family violence matters.
  • Provide one-on-one support to Respondents, promoting positive change and reducing reoffending.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of services.

What You Need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in a therapeutic discipline such as social work, psychology or social sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Family Violence drivers, risks, and issues that can exacerbate family violence risk.
  • Sound skills in support provision, crisis containment, and risk assessment.
