Design Director

The Design Director will lead AKQA's Experience Design team in Melbourne, serving as a trusted advisor to senior clients. This role requires a demonstrated mastery of visual design with a strategic, customer-centric core that drives real-world outcomes. The ideal candidate will have exquisite hands-on design craft and extensive leadership experience that amplifies the potential of the team.
Key Responsibilities- Lead new business efforts from a design and experience perspective, driving innovation and growth.
- Develop and maintain key client relationships, ensuring seamless engagement and delivery of exceptional experiences.
- Embed visual storytelling and design brilliance throughout internal processes, elevating the team's capabilities.
- Champion creativity and ideas, integrating new methods, tools, and processes to drive excellence.
- Scale intelligent design systems to meet the needs of businesses large and small, delivering transformative impact.
- Identify valuable briefs and champion solutions that exceed expectations, delivering end-to-end experience design projects.
- Collaborate with peers in Client Service, Strategy, Technology, Brand, and Data to seize opportunities and drive business growth.
- Demonstrate thought leadership in visual design and user experience, both within the company and industry-wide.
- Develop case studies for experience design outcomes, innovations, and processes, showcasing the team's expertise.
- Mentor and grow the team, managing them to their full individual and collective potential.
- Embody a culture of continuous improvement, embracing diversity and inclusion.
