We are seeking a highly motivated Scientific Officer to join our team at Laverty Pathology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing manual and automated diagnostic testing, executing all routine procedures, and assisting with stock control.
Key Responsibilities- Perform manual and automated diagnostic testing
- Execute all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to results for pathological diagnosis
- Assist with stock control
- Maintain records and recording results in line with protocols
- Maintain and operate all equipment in accordance with protocols
- Keep current with scientific knowledge
- Participate in routine and audit-related Quality Assurance activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement and development of new assays as required
- Train staff
- Liaise with internal and/or external stakeholders regarding test results or referrals
- Comply with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures, and Quality Assurance Processes
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise, and skills within the respective discipline
- Sound knowledge of QC, QAP, and troubleshooting
- Ability to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
- Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and infrequent supervision
- Outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
- Willingness to adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures
- Positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
- Strong time management, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
