Scientific Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientific Officer to join our team at Laverty Pathology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing manual and automated diagnostic testing, executing all routine procedures, and assisting with stock control.

• Perform manual and automated diagnostic testing
• Execute all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to results for pathological diagnosis
• Assist with stock control
• Maintain records and recording results in line with protocols
• Maintain and operate all equipment in accordance with protocols
• Keep current with scientific knowledge
• Participate in routine and audit-related Quality Assurance activities
• Contribute to continuous improvement and development of new assays as required
• Train staff
• Liaise with internal and/or external stakeholders regarding test results or referrals
• Comply with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures, and Quality Assurance Processes

• Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise, and skills within the respective discipline
• Sound knowledge of QC, QAP, and troubleshooting
• Ability to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
• Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and infrequent supervision
• Outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
• Willingness to adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures
• Positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
• Strong time management, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
