Senior Communications Advisor

Lime Recruitment is currently partnering with a prominent Queensland government department to fill a Senior Communications Advisor contract. This role is based at Buderim on the Sunshine Coast and offers the opportunity to work from home.

The Senior Communications Advisor will play a key role in coordinating and supervising communication services for the department's significant projects program in the North Coast Region. This includes leading a team responsible for executive correspondence, issues management, stakeholder relationship management, public affairs, media relations, and community engagement.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate the region's executive correspondence, community relations, and community engagement programs.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of communications officers across the region, including review and approval of communication materials.
  • Provide tactical and operational advice to regional staff on communications issues and strategies, including the development, implementation, and resolution of strategies and communication activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate cooperation, coordination, and enhanced communication channels.
  • Ensure appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to in order to monitor compliance with policy, legislation, regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide training, advice, and support to regional staff, consultants, and contractors to enhance communication skills for delivering projects and initiatives.
  • This position reports to the Principal Communications Advisor and will have three direct reportees.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.
  • While qualifications are not mandatory, a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing would be highly desirable. Preferably International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) in Engagement.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia framework and how it applies to infrastructure projects. Preferably Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional qualification (however, this is not mandatory).
  • Experience in a strategic communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector, will be highly regarded.
