Position Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished Academic Leader to join our team in the field of Linguistics.

About the Role:

This is a key position that will involve lecturing and teaching students in Linguistics, specifically Morphology and at least one other area (Semantics, Phonology, Syntax or Sociolinguistics).

The successful candidate will contribute to the School's internationally recognised strengths in Linguistics, particularly in the study and support of Australian Indigenous languages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lecture and teach students in Linguistics, specifically Morphology and at least one other area (Semantics, Phonology, Syntax or Sociolinguistics).
  • Contribute to the School's internationally recognised strengths in Linguistics, particularly in the study and support of Australian Indigenous languages.
  • Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students and lead academic initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
  • Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilise best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
  • Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
  • Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

Requirements:

  • You should hold a PhD in Linguistics and have expertise in Morphology and at least one other area (Semantics, Phonology, Syntax or Sociolinguistics).
  • For Level B, you will demonstrate a growing profile in teaching and research in Linguistics, specifically Morphology and one other area (Semantics, Phonology, Syntax or Sociolinguistics).
  • As Senior Lecturer (Level C), you will leverage your established record of achievement in teaching, research, and engagement, leading academic initiatives and supervising HDR students to completion as principal supervisor.
