Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Turf Manager to lead our team in delivering sportsfield turf requirements for a major council contract.

This role involves monitoring and improving turf assets by planning and implementing best practice methods and techniques.

About the Role

  • Coordinate all sportsfield turf management and maintenance activities, including cyclic renovations.
  • Plan works on a day-to-day basis to ensure allocated sites are serviced in line with contract specifications, quality standards, and schedules.
  • Ensure public safety and the environment are not compromised, and safe operation and maintenance of vehicles, mowers, plant equipment, and tools required for sportsfield mowing, sports ground maintenance, and turf regeneration work.
  • Program and operate irrigation systems and ensure the team has relevant training, competencies, licences, processes, and equipment to carry out tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of all turf works performed, including inspections, condition ratings, and maintenance works.
  • Prepare detailed and technical reports on turf maintenance works undertaken and provide input into development of annual business plans, including identification of capital requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels, manage financial aspects of the assigned work team, and ensure time and attendance for the team is in line with organisational objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring works are performed to required safety and quality standards and record incidents and near misses.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Cert III Sports Turf Management or equivalent experience in Turf or Horticulture.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, strong knowledge of MS Office packages, and experience with task scheduling and planning.
  • Experience in proactively leading a positive safety culture, understanding and operating within, and reporting on budgets, and experience leading a team.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with customers, MR Licence (desirable), Chem Cert, First Aid, Traffic Management, and Working with Children Check.
