Job Role

The ideal candidate will play a vital role in our state-of-the-art prawn farm in Proserpine. The technician's key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting daily water quality sampling, testing, and analysis for hatchery and pond management.
  • Managing microalgae growth and conducting microscopic observations.
  • Performing larvae feeding, assessments, and broodstock breeding performance monitoring.
  • Preparing detailed reports on water quality metrics and hatchery activities.
  • Collaborating as part of a team to execute the daily production plan safely and efficiently.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of biosecurity and a Zero Harm safety culture.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A strong passion for hands-on work and a fast learner.
  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude and observational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • An adaptable and resilient attitude suited to a dynamic working environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in prawn farming or related field.
  • Knowledge of algal identification or qualifications in Marine Biology or Aquaculture.
