As a seasoned Safety Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in providing support across various business units. You will collaborate with engineering teams and other stakeholders to oversee the comprehensive lifecycle management of safety in design, particularly focusing on automation and machinery from initial concept through to decommissioning. This position is vital for establishing a thorough, consistent, and integrated approach to safety engineering and design principles across operational units. You will identify, anticipate, and mitigate risks that could pose significant threats to the organization, developing strategies and systems for effective risk management.

This role will engage with multiple divisions within Woolworths Group, emphasizing automation and large machinery. You will work within Agile teams and directly with business units to support the lifecycle of automation and large machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct safety in design evaluations at various lifecycle stages, employing appropriate risk methodologies and design principles, either as a facilitator, participant, or reviewer of original equipment manufacturers' designs. Assist in capital and procurement processes, as well as building design and specification, to ensure optimal safety outcomes. Lead and influence internal and external audit programs to uphold world-class safety management system standards. Provide guidance and direction to the organization by identifying best practices within the industry and sharing insights for continuous improvement. Offer strategic guidance and mentorship on safety matters within chapter teams through one-on-one coaching and capability development.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety engineering or related role. Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with eligibility for registration under a state-based professional engineering board. Comprehensive understanding and proven experience with AS/NZ 4024; familiarity with EU Machine Directive 2006/42/EC and the ability to interpret differences with Australian requirements. Extensive experience with leading Safety in Design frameworks, including application of WHS regulations and relevant AU/NZ and ISO Standards. Strong knowledge of supplier risk management and associated material risks.
