Job Opportunity: Automation Specialist

  • Deliver innovative solutions for complex infrastructure management systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using advanced technologies.
  • Develop interactive interfaces, process diagrams, and components for visualisation and control.
  • Write, test, and debug control logic using programming languages supported by WinCC OA.
  • Configure alarms, trends, logs, and user interfaces to meet project requirements and compliance standards.
  • Integrate automation systems with various controllers via protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, bespoke protocols.
  • Support on-site commissioning, including checks, control logic verification, alarm testing, and system validation.
  • Collaborate with test engineers and system integrators during factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT).
  • Participate in troubleshooting and support activities during project execution and post-deployment.
  • Ensure documentation of engineering designs, configuration, commissioning steps, and handover packages.
  • Align with functional safety, system reliability, and redundancy standards for mission-critical infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with automation technologies in engineering and commissioning roles.
  • Strong knowledge of system architecture, programming, and graphical user interface design.
  • Experience integrating with PLC systems, particularly Siemens (S7-1500), using common industrial protocols.
  • Experience in commissioning automation or SCADA systems in industries such as tunnels, oil & gas, water, or transport.
  • Familiarity with database systems (e.g. PostgreSQL, SQL Server) for data logging and retrieval.
  • Comfortable working with Linux and Windows environments, and basic familiarity with version control systems is advantageous.
  • Understanding of functional safety principles, alarm management, and high-availability system design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline.
  • Certification or formal training in automation platforms is beneficial.
  • Experience working on large infrastructure or tunnel/transport automation projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset.
  • Effective communicator—able to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
