**The Role**

This position involves spearheading Pact's global energy and utility strategy, collaborating closely with the sustainability team. Working within our centralised Group Procurement unit, you will lead Pact's efforts to reduce energy consumption, optimise energy purchasing, and contribute to stated carbon reduction targets (50% reduction in Australia and New Zealand by 2030).

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Develop a comprehensive category management strategy across all utilities spend, ensuring alignment with Pact business objectives and key stakeholders
  • Identify and execute energy purchasing opportunities through progressive purchasing contracts or long-term fixed deals (in conjunction with our energy consultants)
  • Review energy optimisation and renewable energy proposals to assist with reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in Australia and New Zealand by 2030
  • Lead and drive supplier relationships
  • Consider risk management, quality, ethical sourcing, sustainability, and legal compliance in line with Pact Group policies
  • Manage energy contracts across regulated and de-regulated markets

**Requirements:**

We are seeking a driven and collaborative procurement professional passionate about energy, with a balance between commercial and environmental aspects. You will assess ways to reduce energy consumption in our 80+ plants, understand costs and benefits of renewables, and develop strong working relationships across the business.

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • 5+ years of experience in the electricity sector
  • Proven experience and knowledge of energy and gas procurement and contract management
  • Proven experience and knowledge of progressive purchasing contracts
  • Demonstrable experience assessing offsite PPAs, renewable energy opportunities such as rooftop solar and batteries
  • Problem-solving ability and commercial acumen, understanding decision-making impacts on the business
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical ability, utilising data to create meaningful intelligence
  • Highly numerate and analytical skills with a degree in science, engineering, economics, or similar disciplines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence key stakeholders
