Global Skilled Employment Services is seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Technology Specialist to join their team.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise in artificial insemination, animal welfare, and farm operations. This is a full-time position that requires strong communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Artificially inseminate livestock for breeding purposes using knowledge of animal anatomy and optimal insemination conditions.
  • Provide advice on breeding selection and techniques to ensure high-quality animal reproduction.
  • Maintain and evaluate records of all insemination history to optimize breeding outcomes.
  • Clean equipment regularly to maintain sanitary breeding practices.
  • Vaccinate animals when necessary and handle them humanely.
  • Store semen properly to perform inseminations safely.
  • Follow safety protocols when handling hazardous materials like liquid nitrogen.
  • Physically inspect animals to identify harmful pathogens, insects, parasites, or fungal infections and implement control measures.
  • Ensure Animal Welfare and Quality Codes are adhered to at all times.
  • Report regularly to the Operations Manager on breeding activities.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Agriculture or higher equivalent.
  • At least 3 years' recent relevant work experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in animal husbandry, welfare, legislation, dairy production, and OH&S.
  • Familiarity with computer programs/software is an advantage.

Salary: An estimated annual salary of $73,150 (plus superannuation) reflects the value this role brings to the organization.

Location: The role is based in Nullawarre, VIC 3268.
