About the Role

AIA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join our Technology team. This role will be involved in data migration from legacy business intelligence and analytics applications to Power BI.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business stakeholders and the business intelligence and analytics team to understand requirements and translate them into reports, dashboards, and insightful visualizations.
  • Business Intelligence Development: Analyze data from various sources for report development. Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable reporting solutions using Power BI or other business intelligence platforms.
  • Business Intelligence Delivery: Take responsibility for development and delivery of business intelligence reports, working closely with project managers to provide technical inputs, estimations, and overseeing release management processes.
  • Standardization: Develop all business intelligence reports according to established standards and ensure consistency across solutions. Comprehensive documentation for all business intelligence solutions. Implement proper user access controls and optimize business intelligence solutions for performance.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Collaborate with fellow IT stakeholders, including technical delivery leads, the data engineering team, and mentoring other business intelligence developers to develop business intelligence reports.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in information technology or a related discipline with 6+ years of business intelligence development experience, including data modeling, report design, and data visualization.
  • Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, or other data manipulation languages.
  • Proven experience in translating business requirements into appropriate business intelligence applications that yield actionable results.
  • Proficiency in creating complex reports, dashboards, paginated reports, and visualizations in Power BI. Strong skills in using Power Query for data transformation. Understanding of data warehousing concepts and modeling within Power BI.
  • In-depth knowledge of DAX for creating measures, calculated columns, and complex calculations.
  • Experience in implementing security within Power BI and managing reports in the Power BI service, including data refresh, scheduling, and sharing.
  • Experience with other reporting tools like Tableau/Cognos is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and optimize business intelligence solutions.
  • Insurance experience, especially life insurance or financial services, would be highly regarded.
