Job Overview

We're seeking an experienced Product Security Engineer with a solid technical background, expertise in cyber controls, and excellent stakeholder engagement skills. You'll partner with technical SMEs, solution architects, and engineers to identify, prioritize, design, and implement cybersecurity solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with technical teams to minimize vulnerability and maximize resiliency in system designs.
  • Evaluate system and product designs against industry-standard cyber controls, including the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSFP) and Information Security Manual (ISM).
  • Contribute to the development of security policies, procedures, audits, and assessments to achieve and maintain system authorization.
  • Perform threat and risk assessments as part of a cyber-maturation process, analyze critical system resources, and identify prioritized mitigations.
  • Evaluate cyber risk/impacts associated with engineering changes to system authorisation baselines and collaborate with Engineering Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to plan, design, and implement required mitigations.
  • Provide inputs for planning, scheduling, and risk, issues, opportunity activities for cybersecurity across the Program.
  • Participate in evaluating process effectiveness and identifying areas for improvement.

Requirements:

  • A Tertiary degree qualification in an engineering or related technical discipline.
  • A systems engineering background with extensive experience with security and industry standards (e.g., ISM, PSPF, DSPF, NIST, ACSI).
  • Demonstrated experience applying relevant engineering practices, standards, and regulations throughout the engineering development lifecycle.
  • Experience implementing Secure Development and Operations (SecDevOps) systems and processes to ensure secure Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environments.
  • Experience with the authorization processes for Australian government (Defence) systems and developing associated authorization document packs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex security concepts to a broad and diverse audience.
