About Us

We're seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Performance Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you'll play a critical role in designing, building, and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.

Job Description

The Senior Cloud Performance Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Benchmarking system performance, analyzing database performance, and optimizing capacity sizing.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging application and server errors, as well as triaging issues accordingly.
  • Providing recommendations for configuration tuning and optimization to address performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborating with our core development, cloud, and security teams to enhance ClickHouse Cloud performance.
  • Planning, enabling, and driving Chaos initiatives across Engineering teams based on internal priorities.
  • Developing, deploying, and managing tools to systematically run chaos experiments and measure their impact.
  • Working with large-scale distributed systems and gaining a deep understanding of them.
  • Studying problems related to software resilience, operational delivery, and other areas.
About You

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • At least 6 years of experience in the software development industry, with a focus on building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, C/C++, Java, or similar.
  • Experience with concurrency, multithreading, and deployment of distributed system architectures.
  • Knowledge of developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes.
  • Experience leading and shipping large-scale technical projects in collaboration with multiple engineers.
  • Expertise in public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their IaaS offerings (e.g., EC2).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within and across engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and solid production debugging expertise.
  • A passion for efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and partner with the business to drive forward.
  • A high level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability.
