The position requires a seasoned legal professional to manage the conduct of a specialist legal practice. Key accountabilities will include:
- Undertaking complex legal matters for the Queensland Police Service and representing the organisation before the courts and tribunals.
- Providing strategic advice to senior executives on sensitive matters affecting the Queensland Police Service, including criminal cases and police discipline.
- Minimising legal action against the organisation and its employees by providing timely and informed legal guidance.
- Offering expert advice to operational police officers on substantive law and police powers relating to investigations and operations.
- Maintaining high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
This role demands a high level of expertise and independence in providing legal advice and representation. The successful applicant must remain current and contribute to the organisation's success.
