Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Waste Coordinator to join our team in Northern Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local state waste regulatory requirements and contributing to a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Characterize and determine regulated and hazardous waste, ensuring correct classification, storage, segregation, labeling, and documentation in accordance with Australian regulations.
- Maintain the physical condition of the waste storage area and safety equipment, adhering to Australian regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Log and containerize all regulated and hazardous wastes using digital reporting tools.
- Raise requests for additional containers, labels, and supplies from vendors to ensure proper stock levels are maintained at the site.
- Engage with waste vendors to arrange collection, scheduling, and follow-up on paperwork for each consignment of waste.
- Complete environmental inspections, raise findings and gaps, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve effective environmental management.
- Liaise with WHS, Inventory Control, Quality Assurance, and other teams to manage hazardous chemicals and generate hazardous wastes.
- Support in preparing monthly waste inventory and identifying shipping frequency to comply with accumulation requirements.
- Participate in training on digital waste reporting tools and AU Hazardous Waste Procedure.
- Research trends, inventory loss, and cost reduction efforts where applicable.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent education
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to communicate with managers and associates at all levels
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to lift up to 25Kg and stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours
