Heritage Professional

We are seeking a Heritage Professional to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in empowering Tasmanian Aboriginal people, while supporting the wider community and government, to advance the recognition, management and protection of Tasmania's unique Aboriginal cultural heritage.

We regularly review our policies and structures through a child and youth safety lens, ensuring that our people are equipped with the skills to recognise and respond to signs of harm.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing timely and accurate Aboriginal heritage advice to clients, stakeholders, government agencies, members of the Aboriginal community and the general public using Aboriginal heritage management systems.
  • Maintaining the integrity and security of Aboriginal heritage management systems and Aboriginal heritage site data.
  • Leading and supporting fieldwork to achieve effective Aboriginal heritage management outcomes.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with the Aboriginal community.
Essential Requirements

An honours or post-graduate degree relevant to the professional duties to be undertaken is required. Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status - Employment) is also necessary.

You will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A high level of organisational skill and attention to detail is also essential.
