Senior Clinician Role in Youth Mental Health Initiative

The role of the Senior Clinician in the Youth Mental Health Initiative is to provide intensive therapeutic interventions and integrated psychosocial responses to young people experiencing complex and severe mental health concerns.

This involves working with headspace centres to enhance youth mental health pathways and services, through collaboration with partner agencies, development of streamlined referral pathways, and ensuring timely transition of care between partner services.

  • Required qualifications include relevant tertiary education and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, or Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) for Social Workers.
  • Extensive postgraduate clinical experience and knowledge in providing evidence-based mental health assessment and treatment for young people and their carers, as well as demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care and its application.
  • Advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement are required to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a multidisciplinary team is essential to accomplish service goals and improve consumer care and outcomes.
