About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our Operations Planning team. This role will see you lead the commissioning process in the Operations team to achieve greater situational awareness and control of all assets undergoing commissioning in the National Electricity Market (NEM).

As a key member of our team, you will provide consistent and high-quality input to our commissioning processes and ensure system security is maintained during commissioning activities. You will work directly within the NEM Real-Time Operating (RTO) control room to monitor and perform commissioning activities in conjunction with control room staff.

This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for managing the generator testing process, ensuring SCADA telemetry and operational voice contacts exist prior to commissioning tests, and managing key commissioning-related activities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the generator testing process, including operational assessment, seeking relevant approvals, and required communications with the NEM Connections team.
  2. Ensure SCADA telemetry and operational voice contacts exist prior to commissioning tests.
  3. Manage key commissioning-related activities, including the augmentation process (transmission and generation plant), the Local Black Start Procedure (LBSP) process, and registration tasks relevant to operational readiness.
  4. Ensure operational readiness for the AEMO NEM control rooms related to commissioning activity, including operational advice, processes, plans/procedures, and systems.


Requirements
  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably in Electrical Engineering with a power system focus) or equivalent relevant discipline.
  2. Proficient use of programming languages (Python, SQL etc), analytical software packages, and Microsoft Office product suite.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work with a team of professional engineers across internal and external stakeholders, or equivalent, to deliver projects impacting a wide range of operational issues.
  4. Experienced in the review of test plans, test results, or generator performance data and able to identify potential issues and suggest ways forward.
  5. Demonstrated ability to review, finalise, and present high-quality technical documentation, commissioning plans, and reports.
