Job Title: Skilled Nurse Practitioner

Overview: The role of an Enrolled Nurse in our health district is to provide high-quality, person-centred care to patients and their families. As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with Registered Nurses, other healthcare professionals, and support staff to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Practice in accordance with evidence-based standards for nursing practice
  • Assist in quality, efficient, and effective person-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Foster patient and family participation in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
  • Recognise normal and abnormal observations in assessments, intervention, and evaluation of individual health and functional status
  • Communicate effectively with patients/carers to ensure an understanding of service delivery processes and clinical interventions
  • Consult and liaise with healthcare professionals within the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain clear and concise patient records to meet legislative requirements
  • Utilise a systematic approach to assess, analyse, and propose alternative solutions to situations that arise in order to resolve patient care issues
  • Plan and prioritise own work requirements effectively to meet defined care objectives within agreed timeframes
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills, and practice within the risk management, safety, and quality frameworks as applicable to our health district
  • Work within own scope of practice and seek support, learning, and education where required
  • Act as a preceptor to other enrolled nurses, undergraduates, Assistants in Nursing, and work experience students as appropriate

Selection Criteria:

  • Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with AHPRA with Medication endorsement
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience as an Enrolled Nurse applying to an operating theatre clinical setting
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to identify key messages, issues, and concerns when communicating with others
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations
  • Computer skills and ability to use health information systems
  • Ability to advocate for and implement person-centred practice
  • Evidence-based practice and critical thinking to patient care
  • Effectively prioritise and organise own workload
