About the Role

Aurecon Australasia Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Substation Design Engineer to join our team in Perth, Western Australia. As a key member of our Energy Practice, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality substation design solutions for our clients in the energy and resources sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and lead detailed designs and technical reports for substation primary and secondary systems.
  • Develop and optimize substation designs to meet client needs, collaborating with civil and mechanical engineers as required.
  • Collaborate with Aurecon's engineers and designers to undertake engineering studies and develop designs for high-voltage primary systems and secondary protection and control systems.
  • Work with drafting experts to produce single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, substation layouts, equipment/materials lists, clearance checks, and substation/control room layouts.
  • Ensure designs are compliant with all relevant Australian and local regulations and standards.
  • Provide technical leadership to team members and work in cross-functional teams to support client needs and financial decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in high-voltage projects in Western Australia and/or the Northern Territory as a consultant, developer, owner, or contractor in the energy and/or mining or resources sector.
  • Knowledge of transmission and distribution industry standards and codes in Australia and/or design experience with Australian electrical utilities.
  • Proficiency in offering solutions to technical challenges and demonstrated technical leadership skills.
  • Strong technical capability and report writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive and trusting relationships with clients.
