General Manager Job Description">

Job Summary:

The Australian Hotels Association (ACT Branch) is seeking a seasoned professional to represent local members and manage branch operations. This role is ideal for an ambitious, energetic, and experienced individual looking for an interesting leadership position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Ministerial offices, Shadow Ministerial offices, and MLA offices in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
  • Identify and execute areas of advocacy to benefit members.
  • Write media releases and appear on behalf of the AHA ACT in the media.
  • Manage and liaise with existing members and corporate partners.
  • Support partner organisations.
  • Plan, maintain, and coordinate AHA ACT communications and provision of information to members.
  • Lead a small team of administrative, workplace relations, and finance contractors.
  • Report on membership, communications, and advocacy activity to the Board.
  • Represent the accommodation and licensed hospitality industry on various committees, Board, and advisory groups in the ACT.

Requirements:

  • Leadership experience in hospitality management, politics, or other industry associations.
  • Highly developed research, policy, communications, and organisation skills.
  • Understanding of political and government processes with an ability to advocate for preferred outcomes.
  • Capable negotiating skills with external stakeholders.
  • Networking capabilities.
  • Ability to adhere to common law responsibilities.
