Job Title

An Education Assistant Special Needs role is available in a thriving Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 school.

The successful candidate will support students' learning, including those with additional needs, by preparing materials and assisting with implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

This opportunity allows you to foster student dignity, independence, self-esteem, and active participation in learning.

About the Role
  • School setting: Primary
  • Student age group: Kindergarten to Year 12

You will work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to engage effectively with children, parents, staff, and other professionals.

Responsibilities
  1. Supporting students with special needs in a primary school environment
  2. Fostering student dignity, independence, self-esteem, and active participation in learning
  3. Promoting positive interactions and appropriate behavior among students using effective classroom management strategies
  4. Providing pastoral care to ensure students are well-prepared and emotionally supported for learning
  5. Assisting teachers by observing, recording, and providing feedback on student learning and behaviour
RequirementsNecessary Skills and Qualifications
  • A personal commitment to Christian values and principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, parents, staff, and other professionals
  • Commitment to pastoral care, with an understanding of social issues that impact young children
  • Ability to act with discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times
  • Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
  • National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Cert IV Education Assistant (Special Needs) or a related qualification and/or experience
  • Knowledge of child development and early intervention strategies
  • Experience supporting children with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities or additional behavioural, social, or emotional needs
