Job Title: Enterprise Messaging Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Messaging Specialist to join our team.

This role is part of a national uplift program for legacy systems supporting a secure regulatory platform. You will be responsible for ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable messaging between applications, services, and systems across distributed environments.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain enterprise messaging software.
  • Create and manage messaging objects queues, channels, topics, listeners, and queue managers.
  • Troubleshoot messaging issues related to connectivity, message flow, queue depth, and performance.
  • Implement and manage messaging security (SSL/TLS, user IDs, channel authentication).
  • Monitor and tune messaging performance using tools such as MQ Explorer, MQSC, or custom scripts.
  • Integrate messaging with other middleware platforms (e.g., IBM Integration Bus, Apache Camel, MuleSoft).
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation of routine messaging administrative tasks.
  • Support disaster recovery and high-availability configurations (HA clusters, multi-instance QMs).
  • Collaborate with development and application teams to assist in messaging design and best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise messaging software.
  • Deep understanding of messaging patterns (point-to-point, pub-sub).
  • Experience configuring messaging clustering, multi-instance queue managers, and distributed queuing.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Shell, Perl, or Python) for automation.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., IBM MQ Explorer, Tivoli, Prometheus/Grafana).
  • Knowledge of SSL/TLS certificates and messaging channel security.
  • Understanding of networking concepts relevant to messaging (TCP/IP, ports, firewalls).
  • Australian Citizenship with Baseline security clearance.
