Community Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Community Development Officer to join our team at headspace Katoomba. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 12-25 with mild to moderate mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging social spaces and programs for young people, including breakfast clubs, art, and music activities.
- Build strong relationships with local schools, youth organisations, and councils to promote headspace services and create opportunities for collaboration.
- Lead and manage group activities and events in schools and community settings, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Promote headspace services and drive referrals from various sources, including schools, GPs, and self-referrals.
- Participate in team meetings, sharing insights from community engagement and reporting on community trends to inform program development.
- Support young people during community events and increase awareness of mental health services, reducing stigma and promoting early intervention.

About You- A relevant qualification (minimum Diploma) in health promotion, social work, psychology, community development/engagement or a related field.
- Passion for supporting young people and improving mental health outcomes in the community.
- Excellent communication and networking skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, including schools, youth organisations, and health professionals.
- Knowledge of the local area and community connections is a strong advantage.
- Ability to facilitate and coordinate community events, including setting up and transporting promotional materials.
- A current Australian driver's licence is required.
