The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Regulations 2000. They will be responsible for preparing and reviewing assessment reports, mentoring staff, and representing the council as an expert.

A strong background in town planning, urban and regional planning, or a related field, is essential. The successful applicant will also possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to critically analyze complex development proposals and develop effective solutions.

In addition to their technical expertise, the Senior Development Assessment Planner will be required to build professional relationships within the development industry and provide high-level customer service. A current C-Class Driver's Licence is also necessary for this role.

About the Role

This role requires a high degree of autonomy, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and reviewing assessment reports
  • Mentoring staff and building capacity
  • Representing the council as an expert in development assessment

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in town planning, urban and regional planning, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years' demonstrated experience in town planning/development assessment. They will also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to critically analyze complex development proposals and develop effective solutions.
