Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance is a leading provider of commercial property, casualty, and specialty insurance solutions.

We are seeking an experienced Claims Consultant to join our Sydney office, specializing in Accident and Health (A&H). This role will report directly to the A&H Claims Manager and offer an opportunity for a seasoned Claims professional to expand their scope of experience in a collaborative team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage high-value group personal accident claims and assist with managing A&H referrals from Third-Party Administrators (TPAs).
  • Assess policy coverage, claim reserving, and identify recovery opportunities where possible.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with clear communication to insureds and brokers, adopting a proactive approach to achieving strong results.
  • Be the market face of A&H claims for BHSI, working closely with customers, brokers, and vendors to drive timely and effective claims resolutions.
  • Collaborate with underwriters and actuaries to report on claim developments and trends, supporting the delivery of BHSI's plans and objectives.
  • Work with the Claims Operations and IT teams to develop and improve systems and processes for efficient claims handling.
  • Participate in process improvement activities within the team, interacting and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to developing new products and wordings with the underwriting team as needed.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years of Accident & Health claim handling experience.
  • Ability to work independently, assimilating learning materials from various sources.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Strong time management and organization skills, with the ability to manage high-frequency claims volumes.
